Stein - Palmberg Riesling Spätlese Trocken 2020
Ulrich Stein is one of our favorite German producers, whom we consider a friend. A rebel, a legend and a talented winemaker.
Palmberg is thé vineyard for the Stein family, located in their native St. Aldegund. It's a huge vineyard area on an Eastern facing steep, steep slope. With the added luck that there's no need for grafting on these vineyards, making the vines "würzelecht" or ungrafted.
This wine has been created from very old vines on a very steep slope. Pressed and then aged in 1.000l füder for about 8 months. This is the ultime Mosel Riesling, with tóns of minerality and power, together with it's honeysuckled citrus and ripping acidity. Residual sugar is around 11 gr/l.
It's just a tad young and would definitely benefit from some barrel aging. We have tasted this well over two decades old and can guarantee: these wines have an enormously long life ahead of them.
