We have been working with Domaine Moreau-Naudet while living in Brooklyn, but sadly missed the wines on the Dutch market. An e-mail to Virginie (the female winemaker), her Dutch agent, another importer and their liaison sorted result: we can now offer almost exclusively the beautiful Chablis wines of Moreau-Naudet.
Since her husband and winemaker sadly passed away at young age not too long ago, Virginie was tasked with a tough task: taking over both the winery as the winemaking. Luckily Virginie was always involved with the winery and turns out to be hugely talented too, true to the style of Moreau-Naudet these are beautiful, rich and mineral Chablis wines crafted with a natural approach. With some help and consultation of the dear family friend Vincent Dauvissat, whose wines have always been a source of inspiration for Moreau-Naudet.
From a tiny, tiny 0,65ha (organic) plot in 1er cru Montmains and from vines that average and age of 55 , these impressive wines are pressed and then fermented on indigenous yeasts and depending on the cuvée either aged in stainless steel, neutral oak barrels or with a touch of new oak. The Premier Cru's spend both the fermentation and aging period in neutral oak barrels, no new oak is used: a concentrated palate loaded with flavors of citrus rind, wet rocks, and salty almonds.
